This is a discussion on Rollback Rx constantly defragging..? within the RollBack Rx forums, part of the Disaster Recovery Programs category; Ah! Thanks for the heads up! We're trying a few new things in the support ticket right now and I'll ...

Greetings all! Since EAZ-FIX and RbRx are supposed to be "brothers in arms," I decided to look into EAX-FIX to see what's NEW in release v9.1. The next item really stood out a bit...
"Added a command line switch to disable/enable hourly snapshot defrag" After seeing this pesky once per minute snapshot defrag eating up my system, and seeing Calbar's note about SUPPORT offering the /disableOPT for diagnostic purposes... I'm wondering if that's the new switch mentioned in EAZ-FIX's "What's new for v9.1" section (nothing clearly available about RbRx's "new features")... and, to take that yet another step down the road, is it possible that the "hourly snapshot defrag" has really been implemented as a "minutely snapshot defrag" by mistake. Thoughts, Calbar?? |

I stand corrected... RbRx does have that new command-line switch listed in v9.1's "What's New"... it just doesn't document it in their HELP document.
Still wondering about the above... |

Hey Froggie,
We've made a little headway in my support ticket regarding this issue. They made a special build that fixed the defragging problem on my machine and you're welcome to give it a try (I asked). rollback-test0621.zip Obviously, you try this at your own risk. As for why this is happening, I don't really know. Honestly, I remember reading that this feature was supposed to run whenever it detected your computer was idle, not based on a specific time interval... so I guess I wouldn't have expected them to describe it as an "hourly" process. However, I do remember reading something about the /disableOPT functionality being offered more readily (in the next version?). I wouldn't be surprised if there was a new check box in the program options. On an aside, have you had a chance to experienced any problems booting up after Hibernation, Froggie..? I'm still plagued with "Windows did not shut down properly" when using Rollback Rx. I'm wondering if it warrants its own thread, considering there's a temporary fix for the defrag issue. Oh, btw, lemme know how that version works, if you try it! |

Greetings Calbar! Just back from the beach
![]() I can't get access to the ZIP file you presented since it's not my support ticket so that'll have to wait 'til I can get a hold of it (any suggestions?) Haven't played with HIBERNATE yet but will try shortly and let you know what I get... Thanks for all your help with this... |

Hello again, Calbar! Feel free to use SendSpace.com ( a FREE file transfer service) to send me the actual ZIP file you received at...

Hey Froggie, sorry, I was out of the country for a month.
I used that SendSpace service and put your email as a recipient. I didn't use my real email as I didn't want to get any potential spam. It should say it's from na@na.com. Lemme know how it works for you. For what it's worth, almost all my problems have gone away since. No more hibernation bugs, and no out of control defrag events. I don't think I've even used /disableOPT this time. Good luck! Last edited by calbar; 08-10-2010 at 05:56 AM. Reason: typo |

Haven't seen it yet, Calbar... usually a link comes immediately upon completion of your file transfer. It may not send it if your email address turns out invalid. To keep you unexposed, can you just tell me what the VERSION number of your release is? There's another release that's been made available on the forum that I did get (poster posted the HOTfile link of the file download) and it also addressed the STANDBY/HIBERNATE problem... it may also have your fix in it also. I haven't used it yet but will try it if I think it contains your fix, too.
Hope your out of country trip was productive... |

Ah, weird - maybe that screwed it up...
My version number is v9.1 Build 2695276557. Can you send me a link to the other one posted on the forums? I'm interested to see the details surrounding that. If it turns out to be different and you're problems are still occurring, just let me know and I'll make sure the upload works this time. Also, having used that other version, has your constant defragging gone away, too? Anyway, thanks for the heads up! Also for the well wishes - I went to China and Tibet just to see what I could see, and it was pretty amazing.
