Hi
I just started using the trial version of RB rx v.9 and I desperately want it to work out. I was a dedicated user of GoBack for years and years until Vista a couple of years ago. I've been looking for something ever since. I don't really want a full back up type of thing such as "ghost or true image" altho I know they're lifesavers also. I just want something to pull my butt out of the fire when a virus takes hold or software goes awry. Goback was so great for those things. Anyway my question is, I have an external hard drive for extra storage that stays plugged into the computer, since installing RB everytime I reboot my computer it acts like my external HD has just been plugged in, and I get that windows message about what I want to do, "run setup exe. open folder etc." Like it does when you first plug in any usb device. Before RB that never happened. Now that's not a huge deal, but it does get annoying after awhile. Just wondering if anyone has any info on that, I couldn't find anything in the knowledge base. I've got my fingers crossed that this software works out for me. I did a rollback just to test it and it worked, but it did change the system tray icon of the HD and the RB system tray icon didn't appear. I'd appreciate any feedback or info. Thanks in advance BTW...I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit with at the moment Norton anti-virus 2009 Last edited by Firefly; 08-11-2009 at 10:17 PM. |

.Firstly, I would strongly suggest that you get to grips with some sort of imaging software so that you've always got a fall-back position. There are plenty out there, either free or commercial, and imaging gives you more confidence should things start to go wrong with your system. Having said that, RollBack is also excellent at getting you out of trouble quickly and under most circumstances but should be used as part of your overall strategy. Quote:
If it hasn't then I'd raise a ticket here with technical and see if they have any suggestions. Quote:

thank you sir for the advice. Well the external HD problem has subsided, it now only happens if I do a rollback. It then acts like it has just been plugged in. Not a big deal, as I don't rollback very often. It's just an insurance.
And the icon returns to normal after a reboot when I don't rollback. Again not a huge deal either. Now my problem is the sytem hangin up on shutdown. There's a solution in the knowledge base, but I just haven't tried it yet. Again thanks for the info. |
